The Information Technology Group (ITG) is responsible for: * managing Macquarie’s technology infrastructure * supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems * delivering and deploying new systems, technologies and servicesTechnology plays a critical role within Macquarie and ITG provides each business unit with a dedicated account team that works closely with that business to understand its particular technology needs.A number of opportunities currently exist for Senior UNIX Systems Administrators to join our team in Manila. Key role responsibilities will include driving the engineering, key business deployments, support and product innovation on behalf of a global team. Supporting around 1000 UNIX Servers, within a complex technical, predominantly Sun Solaris environment, you will be required to implement, upgrade and maintain the UNIX fleet, provide backup and enterprise storage solutions, as well as planning process and application improvements.Core responsibilities of the role will include: * providing first-class UNIX/Linux system management * working with multi-Level support teams in Manila, Hong Kong, Sydney and regional offices to implement and support Infrastructure environments * maintaining good relationships with the ITG Account Teams, business users and the wider Unix Support TeamSome team members may also be responsible for: * DR planning and testing * system builds and development * technical project management * evaluation of new technologies
To be successful in this role you will: * have a university degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent * be a strong, dynamic character, capable dealing effectively with colleagues and business users working in a constantly evolving environment * be prepared to participate hands-on in the adds, moves and changes of the UNIX infrastructure and associated hardware * have the ability to work as part of a regional team across multiple countries, cultures and time-zones * be able to remain calm under pressure and when faced with adversity or urgent issues * be customer-focused with a “service first” mentality and best-in-class communication skills * be able to view current processes and procedures as opportunities for enhancement, tuning and improvement.Minimum required experience: * strong Unix skills (either minimum of 2 years continuous, recent experience working with a Sun Solaris UNIX platform or alternatively 5 years continuous and recent experience in another version of UNIX or Linux) * currently operating in a similar role within a global large-scale institution * troubleshooting and resolution of production problems and issues * experience with Unix directory and file systems * demonstrable experience with change management processesExperience in the following areas would be considered advantageous: * strong Solaris Unix skills * strong RedHat Linux skills * Scripting, in Perl and Shell * naming services NIS, DNS, LDAP, QIP * OS Upgrades * Remedy trouble-ticketing system * BMC Patrol * Veritas Volume Manager * Veritas Clustering and replication products * Unix email * disaster recovery implementation and execution * Legato Networker backup solution * EMC Storage systems management * ITIL practicesPlease note there is a requirement for occasional on call and rostered support.To apply: Please submit a resume and cover letter outlining how your experience is a good match for the skill requirements of this role.
